In a recent interview, Lee Jae Wook got candid about the famous scene, revealing that director Park Joon Hwa wanted it to be "pretty" which led to a week-long discussion.?
The famous kissing scene between Jang Uk (Lee Jae Wook) and Naksu (Go Youn Jung) in episode 27 of Alchemy of Souls was a masterfully crafted cinematic moment that exuded intense passion and chemistry. The tension between Lee Jae Wook and Go Yoon Jung's characters was undeniable, making it one of the most visually stunning scenes in the history of K-dramas.
Speaking exclusively to Wikitree, Lee opened up about the intimate scene, revealing the behind-the-scenes work that went into mastering the scene. While talking about it, the actor got coy, with his ears reportedly turning visibly red, as he credited the drama's director for its success.
"First, director Park Joon Hwa wanted the kiss scene to be pretty. I spoke in depth about the kiss scene with Director Park for a week. I tried to express details in the scene, such as nudging (Go Youn Jung) against the wall," he revealed.
Lee Jae Wook explained that the actors and director worked together to create the kissing scene.?"The (character¡¯s) dialogue before the kiss scene was about how the two won¡¯t ever see each other again. (Therefore) we considered how we could best (express) the scene and started by nudging (Go Youn Jung) against the wall and started building the scene from there," he added.
Alchemy of Souls was split into two seasons, with Season 1 consisting of 20 episodes and Season 2 having 10. The K-drama achieved significant success, garnering a 9.6% viewer rating in Korea and ranking high on Netflix's global charts, appealing to both domestic and international audiences.
