The Maha Kumbh Mela, a Hindu pilgrimage, is happening after 12 years. Amid the ongoing religious event, a Greek woman identified as Penelope married an Indian man, Siddharth, at the MahaKumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on Sunday.?
According to an ANI report, the couple chose the religious event to get hitched in a more 'divine and spiritual' way rather than the usual wedding, which is more like an opportunity for people to 'party and drink.'.?
While getting married at the Maha Kumbh, the 'kanyadaan' ritual was performed by Swami Yatindranand Giri, Mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara. During the marriage, the bride's mother and other relatives were also present at the moment.?
The woman had adopted the ¡®Sanatan Dharma¡¯ a few years ago and is now a devotee of Lord Shiva. On the other hand, her husband, Siddharth, is also a devotee of Shiva, and he has visited various countries to spread yoga and serve the Sanatan Dharma.?
Keeping all the traditions in mind, the couple on Sunday did the 'agni phere' (circling the fire); it was done, as per the ANI report.?
Penelope, the Greek woman, expressed her happiness at choosing to get married in India, that too during the biggest Hindu festival, Maha Kumbh. She revealed it was very nice to see a different perspective in a spiritual way.?
Moreover, she also described her experience as ¡°magical beyond words¡± and said she was excited about embracing a new culture.?
The couple who got married in a spiritual way during the Mahakumbh wanted to get married in the 'most authentic manner,' hence they chose Prayagraj for its 'divine nature.'
The couple has also decided to stay till the end of the Mahakumbh Mela and will also take a holy dip on January 29.?
