Netflix recently announced that 2025 will be a big year for the platform, with the return of three highly popular shows:?Stranger Things,?Wednesday, and?Squid Game. However, the Duffer Brothers, creators of?Stranger Things, have tempered expectations by revealing that the release plan for Season 5 is still not finalized.
The Duffer brothers recently spoke with Variety and admitted that the planned 2025 release window isn't set in stone. Their?statement about the uncertainty on the show's release window has sparked a wave of frustration and disappointment among fans, who have been eagerly waiting for the conclusion of the series.?
Matt Duffer shared that they'll be deciding on an exact release date with Netflix soon, but he also cautioned that releasing the final season this year would be "quite the push".??
Matt Duffer said, "What did the Duffer Brothers say about Stranger Things release date??A lot of it hasn¡¯t been decided, in terms of exactly the release dates and cadence. That¡¯s one reason I¡¯m not allowed to talk about it. We¡¯re getting on a call in about a couple of weeks about it. I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push."
Ross Duffer, meanwhile, reflected on the "tight" timetable and said, "Ahad for Season 4, hoping that the final episodes of the series won't be as chaotic.
"We're working as fast as we possibly can. Even Season 4, we cut that so tight. We were dropping in visual effects shots the day after the launch! So hopefully we¡¯ll be a little more on schedule this year¡Now it¡¯s just sort of climbing up another hill as we head towards finally finishing this,"?added Ross Duffer.
The news of a potential delay has sparked a wave of disappointment among fans, with many taking to social media to express their frustration with the show's creators.
Responding to a report suggesting there could be a delay in the release of the final season of Stranger Things, one disappointed fan wrote on X, "Nobody ever asked for y¡¯all to make this show 100x bigger. Your best season continues to be your first, which took you less than a year to film and send over to Netflix. Half the actors lost their golden years and are never going to get a job again; like, just hurry up, JESUS."
"Half the people in this fandom were wearing pull-ups when this show first came out. 40 Marvel films have come out since S1; like, you have no excuse for taking forever," the fan added.

Many agreed with the fan, with one user hilariously writing, "I was literally starting high school when the first season came out, and I graduated college 2 years ago. The fact that it's not over yet is actually insane."

Another added, "And even if you could, every episode as a movie, they still should be finished by then when Marvel is making these 2-hour movies and shows, and each season they up Stranger Things budgets."

"They spent a decade on this show, and we don¡¯t even have 5 seasons. What happened to a season a year like all the other shows back then?" wrote a fourth user.

Notably, the production of?Stranger Things?has faced significant challenges, including industry-wide strikes that impacted the writers' and actors' schedules. As a result, filming that was initially planned for 2023 spilled over into 2024, finally wrapping up in December. Additionally, the show's large-scale production and complex post-production processes have added to the delays, pushing back the release date even further.
