The 34th Seoul Music Awards has revealed its list of nominees and opened fan voting. The event dedicated to honoring excellence in K-pop, is set to take place at Inspire Arena on June 21, 2025. Leading the nominations are BTS members RM, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, and J-Hope, alongside BABYMONSTER, TXT, and several other top artists.
While ARMY celebrated seeing so many BTS members nominated just months before their official reunion, many were quick to notice that one member in particular—V, also known as Kim Taehyung—was missing from the nominations.?
Kim Taehyung was eligible for multiple categories, including Layover (Vinyl), R&B, K-Wave, and K-pop World Choice (Solo), based on the eligibility period from January 2024 to March 2025, as per Circle Chart data. Additionally, he released the songs FRI(END)S and Winter Ahead during the same time frame.?
Seeing him excluded from the 34th Seoul Music Awards was shocking to many ARMYs, who quickly voiced their concerns online. While rapper SUGA is also not on the list, but it is to be noted that he did not release any music in the said time frame.?
Many fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to question why Taehyung was not nominated despite meeting the criteria, with many still waiting for an explanation or any hint of a reason.?
One fan wrote, "I don't understand why Taehyung (V) was not nominated for the 34th Seoul Music Awards when he perfectly fits multiple categories—Layover (Vinyl), R&B, K-Wave, and K-pop World Choice (Solo)—based on the eligibility period from January 2024 to March 2025."?
Another said, "Just saw the SMA nominations, and not even one for Taehyung? His songs performed so well on the charts and met the criteria too. Genuinely wondering why. I can't celebrate others when one is left out."?
Another wrote, "Hey, genuine question—does anyone know why Taehyung is not nominated?"
One fan added, "Did we get any explanation for why Tae didn’t receive a nomination despite releasing two songs in 2024?"?
Voting for the awards is taking place through the official K-POP SEOUL app, along with affiliated platforms like My One Pick and Fandom Chart. The process is divided into two rounds:?
First round: March 24 (12:00 PM KST) – April 12 (11:59 PM KST)?
Second round: April 21 (12:00 PM KST) – May 10 (11:59 PM KST)
Fans can support their favorite artists in major categories, including the Main Prize, Rookie of the Year, Popularity Award, and Hallyu Special Award. Winners will be determined based on voting results and announced during the ceremony.?
