A historic day for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) quickly turned into a nightmare after the RCB¡¯s victory parade stampede took place outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, June 4. The massive gathering of fans led to congestion, killing 11 people and injuring dozens. Following the incident, a post on Reddit has garnered massive attention that claims, ¡°Bengaluru police didn't allow permission for any celebrations, but RCB forced them to allow it¡±, but what¡¯s the fact? Let¡¯s find out.
RCB¡¯s victory parade was announced barely hours in advance; still, the crowd saw no coordination, no clarity and no crowd control. According to ToI, the chaos and confusion began long before the first fans reached the venue. Meanwhile, RCB announced a celebratory parade from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy Stadium but without any details on time, route or entry rules.
As per the timeline, fans began pouring into the location from around 11 AM, and they were all over both venues, waiting for the grand public celebration. Additionally, the metro services were suspended amid crowd pressure, and around 4:51 PM, a stampede broke out near Gate No. 7 of the stadium. But is this all? Here¡¯s what an eyewitness revealed.
An eyewitness from the incident shared the details about what actually happened on Reddit. In the post, the user named @wildflowerxoxoxo wrote, ¡°Bangalore police were not ready for this type of crowd. Bangalore police had no control over the crowd at Chinnaswamy. This was the worst experience and bad management; I saw people around me collapse, probably having crush injuries, and we couldn't even get out.¡±
The user went on to reveal that a few hooligans were creating a ruckus without any reason. Along with the user, there were two of her friends (both girls) who had to go through the regular crowd.
She said it was still fine until people without tickets pushed other people and climbed the trees and compound walls; they started jumping over the compound wall and didn't even let the police personnel open the gate.
The user further shared that it was one of her worst nightmares, seeing people losing consciousness, pushing without even a care in the world, like this was worth it. She experienced breathing issues, and a friend hit her head.
¡°So whoever was these organisers were, shame on you. Could have organised this even 2 days later with proper management. I don't even know how many are injured here,¡± she added.

Noticing the post on Reddit, netizens shared their reactions; one said, ¡°RCB forced them for an open government event. Ideally, the RCB bus was meant to go to Chinnaswamy, but the politicians wanted the limelight. You think a franchise can conduct an open event without government permission. Have the balls and call out the government.¡±
While another added, ¡°They had a ticketing system on TicketGenie. Please don't say something without credible info. When the police force opened the gate for the P3 annexe stand, the crowd rushed there, and all this happened.¡±
The state government has initiated a magisterial investigation into the matter. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for each victim¡¯s family and guaranteed free medical care for the ones who are injured.?
