A man accused of sending a death threat to actor Salman Khan has been tracked down to a village in Vadodara district, Gujarat. According to PTI, police revealed on Tuesday (15th April) that he has been found to be mentally unstable. Mumbai police have issued a notice to the 26-year-old man, who lives in a village in Waghodia taluka, directing him to appear before them.
The threat was received via the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp helpline on Sunday. In the message, the sender warned of planting a bomb in Salman Khan¡¯s car and physically attacking the actor, who is under Y-Plus security cover, by entering his residence. In response, the Worli police in Mumbai registered a case against the then-unknown sender under Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Security was also increased around Khan¡¯s home in the Bandra area.
During the investigation, Mumbai police discovered that the threat had come from a person residing in Waghodia taluka, Vadodara, Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand informed reporters. He shared, ¡°A team of Mumbai police, accompanied by Waghodia police, reached the suspect's house at a village in Waghodia on Monday. However, it turned out that the 26-year-old man, who had sent the message, is mentally unstable and his treatment is also going on. The Mumbai police served him a notice to appear and left".
In April last year, two people on a motorbike fired four shots outside Salman Khan's home at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandra. This wasn¡¯t the first time Khan had been threatened, he had earlier received warnings from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. They had demanded an apology to the Bishnoi community over the alleged blackbuck hunting incident and warned of serious consequences if he didn¡¯t comply. Due to these threats, Mumbai police assigned Khan Y-Plus security protection.
