14 years ago, on this day, life changed for many who used Mumbai's local trains to commute. They were on their way back home from their workplaces when seven deadly blasts rocked the financial capital of the country. A total of 189 lives were lost in those attacks and more than 700 were injured. Many people lost friends, family members, co-passengers, they still remember that journey as a nightmare. But when confronted with reality, everything around them becomes grim and lifeless.
Nine years after the bombing five accused, Kamal Ahamed Ansari, Mohammed Faisal Shaikh, Ehtesham Siddiqui, Naveed Hussain Khan and Asif Khan, were sentenced to death.
Remaining seven people, Tanvir Ahmed Ansari, Mohammad Majid Shafi, Shaikh Alam Shaikh, Mohd Sajid Ansari, Muzzammil Shaikh, Soheil Mehmood Shaikh and Zamir Ahmad Shaikh, were sentenced to life imprisonment.?
These blasts were first of their kind in the history of the country and it brought the financial capital of the country to a halt.
