PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday at 8pm declared that the whole country would be under 21-day lockdown to limit the spread of the coronavirus.?
Modi said, ¡°There will be a complete lockdown across the country from midnight".
In India over 500 people have been infected by this deadly virus and 11 have died so far.?
The PM also said ¡°if India doesn¡¯t manage these 21 days lockdown, then the whole country will be pushed backwards by 21 years¡±
In this janta curfew, the decisions were taken by the respective state governments which were against the condition prevailing in the stare. The complete lockdown declared by PM Modi on Tuesday is a complete lockdown which is imposed across the country by the Union Home Ministry.?
Airports and Flights were operational and borders were sealed during the previous lockdown. While from March 24, flight services will not be operational and state borders will be completely sealed.?
In the janta curfew there was no provision for any action regarding not following the quarantine policy but from March 24 the government has declared that the persons who fail to remain under strict isolation and quarantine as advised by the local authorities and those who have arrived in India after 15 March will be charged under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.?
In the janta curfew there were no legal procedures involved only the local police officers were guiding the people to stay but in the current situation of lockdown provision of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 will be invoked against the person who will be seen violating the measures taken. Furthermore, legal proceedings will take place under Section 188? of the Indian Penal Code. (As per government notice)
Both the government's central and state will work together to supply the essentials like medicines and products in coordination to ensure that people don¡¯t panic. In the previous lockdown, there was only the mention of being functional. Now even the supply is assured by the government.?
A 24x7 number or hotline will be made available by the home ministry to assist the states enforce the lockdown. There was no provision of any hotline earlier.?
Worship places and other public places will be closed and no religious rallies or any other gathering will be allowed while in case of funerals, only a maximum number of 20 people will be allowed to attend.?
