In today's day and age, many middle-class families are moving away from having grand celebrations if they can't afford it. People prefer to not spend a fortune on their wedding unless they can afford it of course.?
Small, intimate affairs are now not looked down upon. And this couple proved it. Here's what we are talking about.?
Traditionally, a halwai was considered an essential component of Indian wedding ceremonies. Growing up, most of us saw teams of halwais with big cauldrons cooking matar paneer or frying puris for hundreds of wedding guests.?
But things are changing now. With the availability of apps to do everything, a couple didn't shy away from ordering food for their engagement party.?
We may be witnessing another innovation in Indian wedding food: online ordering.
An X user reported that she attended an engagement ceremony where the pair booked meals for guests online rather than having the event catered, as is customary. The X user uploaded a photo of a Swiggy delivery partner putting plastic food boxes on a table inside a tent.
¡°They ordered food online for an engagement ceremony?? Bhai I have seen everything,¡± Susmita wrote while sharing the picture on X.?
Even the brand Swiggy noticed the image and asked the Delhi couple to order their wedding dinner online as well.?
¡°No one has used our Crazy Deals better than these guys. Shaadi ka khana bhi humse mangwa lena,¡± responded Swiggy.?
Meanwhile, X users found the image amusing. Several jokes about caterers and halwais quickly entered the comments section.?
Here's what memes followed the viral tweet.
