Located?40 km from the city,?the fort is important to Nashik district, and was constructed to look upon the trade route through Gonda Ghat. It receives many visitors because of its peculiar rock-cut steps.

Harihar Fort also known as Harshagad,?is one majestic man-made high-rise, and its?main attraction is the 60M height pinnacle, and the steps curved on it.

At many places, the steps have worn out but the small holes curved on both edges of the steps are helpful to hold. The first half of the steps are curved on the scarp of the pinnacle and the remaining are curved inside the pinnacle. Last part is precipitous than the first one as the height of the steps increases as you go up.??
The journey?to the summit starts from the base point in the village of Nirgudpada located on Trimbak-Igatpuri road. One has to trek less than 5 KM to reach the top from the base village, Nirgudpada, and will take less than 2 hours.??
While the journey?takes its toll and could be life-threating, the jaw-dropping views and beautiful scenery on the way up makes the trek all the more worthwhile.??
