This past weekend, British royals King Charles III and his wife Camilla made a low-key, four-day visit to Bengaluru that flew under the media radar. The couple travelled for wellness treatments at the renowned Soukya International Holistic Health Centre in Whitefield. Their visit comes at a critical time, as King Charles is currently undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.
After attending the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa, King Charles and Queen Camilla made a private stopover in India's tech hub, Bengaluru, on their return journey to the UK.?
Their private jet touched down at HAL airport on Saturday night, October 26.?
According to the Times of India, since it was a personal visit, no formal welcome was extended by the state government.
During their stay, the royal couple visited the Soukya International Holistic Health Centre, a wellness retreat founded by Dr. Issac Mathai and Dr. Suja Issac where they were welcomed for therapies like Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Acupressure, Yoga, and Homeopathy.?
Dr. Mathai has been a holistic physician to Charles for over a decade and was present at his coronation.
This marks Charles's tenth visit to the wellness center, where he previously celebrated his 71st birthday.
The last official visit by British royals to India took place in 2016 when Prince William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, embarked on a mission to enhance UK-India relations.?
