Ragging in renowned Indian colleges and universities is one evil that doesn't go away. Hazing (as it's also called in the U.S.) or ragging is when a student is teased or disrespected by other students or seniors whenever they join a new college. It can come in many forms including physical or verbal abuse and discrimination. While over time it had become a right of passage of sorts (hence, the phrase 'initiation ritual'), what most don't realise is how ugly it can get. In a recent post on X, a user shared a photo of a list of 'code of conduct' rules that a junior received from a senior student.
In a recent post on X, user @cneuralnetwork shared a photo of an obnoxious list of 'code of conduct' rules that were apparently handed to a junior student by a senior at an Indian college that hasn't been named. "Code of conduct given by a senior to juniors in an indian clg. kaise bacche kuch sekhege, ya even grow karege if this is the environment," read the caption.
The exhaustive list has 16 totally ridiculous points, some of which you can still wrap your head around, but the others just prove how far this whole ragging nonsense can go.?See the original post, above, for the entire list. Meanwhile, some strange ones we are listing here. "Never approach a senior first." Yeah, no kidding.?
Another one asks that juniors use a specific phrase before asking the name of a senior. It reads: "May I have the single chance, double opportunity, triple pleasure, quadruple satisfaction to know the great grand highly auspicious silver coated, golden plated, diamond sprinkled name of the highly respected senior I am talking to sir please please please."
Probably the one that stood out the most for everyone was this one: "Never ever dare to have eye contact with senior."
