For the first time in history, the Indian Railways paid compensation to passengers for a two-hour delay.?
According to report, the passengers travelling by Tejas Express on October 19 from?Lucknow to Delhi got Rs 250 each after the train got delayed.
The train was delayed due to maintenance work and a coach had derailed in the maintenance yard at Lucknow during shunting, reports Business Today.?
The train left New Delhi Railway station (NDLS) at around 5:30 PM instead of 3:35 PM. states the report.?
Under IRCTC's travel insurance policy, passengers of Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, will receive Rs 100 if the delay is for an hour.

The compensation amount increases to Rs 250 in case the train is delayed by more than two hours.
The IRCTC sent SMS to all passengers with website link where travel insurance number could be submitted for the refund.?
The delay will cost IRCTC nearly Rs 1.62 lakh, reports the Financial Express.?
Apart from the compensation for delay, Tejas Express also includes a cover of Rs 1 lakh against household thefts and robbery during the travel period of passengers.
