The culinary guide said, "Chai masala is an aromatic beverage originating from India," in the description of an Instagram post announcing the prize. It is created using milk that has been sweetened and black tea that has been spiced with a masala mix, which usually consists of ground ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and black peppercorns.
When discussing its hotly contested roots, the guide emphasised how it is connected to the British tea trade.
