Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is the world's most known and distinguished institute for engineering, mathematics, and science. Since its inception nearly 200 years ago in 1861, the institute in the United States has had over 101 Nobel laureates and eight Fields Medalists as teachers or graduates.
The school is highly selective, with an acceptance rate of only 4%, meaning that only a small number of those who apply are admitted. With numerous rounds of eligibility to complete, an applicant must demonstrate exceptional grades, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of reference.

Even after all of this, admission to one of the world's top institutions is not guaranteed. But now, a Reddit post featuring an entrance exam question paper for the elite college has gone viral.?
The exam paper is dated June 1869, eight years after the institute's establishment.According to an MIT alumni website, the first class of students who enrolled in 1865 did not have to take any formal entrance tests. They simply needed to be "properly prepared."?
But later, an entrance exam was implemented. The test, with the words "Massachusetts Institute of Technology" inscribed on top, displays the algebra section of the question paper. The original test was supposed to have three to four additional components, covering geometry, arithmetic, English, and calculus.?
The message entertained and delighted social media users. Here's what people wrote.
