New Zealand will restart two immigration streams¡ªthe Skilled Migrant visa and the Parent Resident visa¡ªfrom next month.??
The Skilled Migrant Category is the most popular visa pathway to residence in New Zealand for migrants and their families.
A resident visa under the Skilled Migrant Category allows candidates to live, work and study in?New Zealand indefinitely and bring their partner and dependent children under the age of 24.??
The Skilled Migrant Category aims to attract?skilled migrants who have a proven capacity?to contribute to New Zealand¡¯s economic growth.?
It's a points-based system whereby points are claimed under various criteria such as age, qualifications, work experience, or a job offer in New Zealand.?A candidate will have their Expression Of Interest (EOI) accepted and be Invited To Apply (ITA) for residence if they meet at least 160 points and if they satisfy mandatory health and character requirements.?
To be eligible for residence under SMC, you must:
a) be 55 years old or younger
b) have a job or job offer in New Zealand that requires specialized, technical, or managerial knowledge, experience, and qualifications.?
c)? have a recognised qualification
d) have skilled work experience
In addition, you should also be able to speak English reasonably well, be in good health, and be able to provide proof of identity.
Your first step to applying for the Skilled Migrant Category Resident?Visa is completing an Expression of Interest (EOI),?online?or using a?printed form.
Once you submit your EOI, immigration authorities will then periodically choose from applications and invite applicants to apply for the visa. Whether they invite you to apply depends on how many points they assign to you.
Immigration New Zealand will use the information to assess your eligibility based on a points system. They are only considering EOI's from applicants with at least 180 points (or 160 points for their selection on November 9, 2022).? How many points you get will be based on the information you provide in your EOI.
1) For skilled employment, you can claim 50¨C60 points for a job or a job offer in New Zealand that requires specialist, technical, or management expertise.?
2) You can also claim? points for at least two years' work experience in the same field in which you have skilled employment.?
3) There are 40-60 points on offer for a variety of trade certificates, diplomas, bachelor's degrees, and post-graduate qualifications. You can get bonus points for qualifying, too.
4) There are a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 30 points for age. The lower the age, the higher the points.?
5) You can earn 10 points if you have a close family member who lives or has citizenship in New Zealand.?
