A mother gave birth while she was battling coronavirus and she has no memory of being pregnant with her now three-month-old daughter as she suffered a brain injury while fighting for her life.?
35-year-old Sylvia LeRoy worked as labour and delivery nurse at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She was 30 weeks into her pregnancy when she had a cardiac arrest on April 12, two weeks after she was diagnosed with COVID-19.?
Once she was stable she was taken to the emergency room to deliver her daughter, Esther, via C-section.
She spent four minutes there without oxygen to her brain that caused an anoxic brain injury that has affected everything from her motor function to her memory.?
Sylvia's older sister, Shirley Licin, talked to New York Post, and revealed the mother of two can barely speak and doesn't remember being pregnant.?
"We tell her 'Sylvia, you were ill, you had your baby, but you did really good ¡ª do you remember?' And she shakes her head,'¡± 41-year-old Shirley said.?

Sylvia and her husband, Jeffry, also have a three-year-old son, Jeremiah.?¡°I¡¯m mourning the loss of the sister I had, but I still have her,¡± the troubled sister said.?
Sylvia¡¯s condition has been difficult for her family but they are trying to support her in all ways they can.?Shirley told The Post that doctors believe the thick, heavy fluids in her lungs caused by the virus may have led to her going into cardiac arrest.?

Doctors performed an emergency C-section fearing something might happen to the baby.?Sylvia's daughter, Esther, was healthy and able to recover well in the neonatal intensive care unit.?
The family started a GoFundMe in April to raise money for Sylvia's medical costs and have raised more than $928,000 in donations, so far.?
We hope that Sylvia recovers soon and is able to live with her family happily.?
