Optical illusions are a fun way to pass time while checking to see if your brain, and, well, your eyesight are healthy. Were they always meant to be that though? Do they serve any real purpose and is there any scientific study backing how effective they can be?
One way of understanding optical illusions is that they are your brain's way of tricking you into seeing things that aren't really there. But why does the human brain do that, and why does a thing like this even happen??What causes this phenomenon? Believe it or not, evolution! Rapid responses are crucial for survival. Your brain has to swiftly process available information, piecing together fragments while working overtime to comprehend the rest.
Using?colour, different patterns, and even light and shadow, the brain forms images that are much different from how they really are. In other words, seeing is not believing in this case. But chalk it up to survival instincts and we'll have to make do with this answer for now.
This bright image depicts a young girl enjoying a camel ride in front of pyramids. Her dog rides with her while a man pulls the camel forward. In the background, another tourist takes in the views. But in this scene lies a tiny, unassuming lamp that is hidden so ingeniously that the 30 seconds you'll need to spot will not seem like enough.
Take the time you need to spot the lamp. If you've been practising for some time with other similar optical illusions, it shouldn't take you more than 10 seconds. But we're optimistic that even the most inexperienced viewer can turn this activity into a win. One way to scan the image is to break it into sections and go section-wise. Look for any obvious colour gradations, any shapes that seem different from the ones already present, or even something that could possibly be hidden in the shadow of another object.
Pace yourself and don't break your concentration. Set the timer, take a deep breath and begin. All the best!
Don't lose heart if you couldn't find the object of interest in 30 seconds. Think of this as practise for future optical illusions that you will definitely ace. The answer is highlighted in red for those who struggled to locate the lamp.?
