An?image of a black panther reportedly captured at Patiem beat in South Goa¡¯s Netravali wildlife sanctuary, is going viral on the Internet. Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, took to Twitter to share the picture of the dark big cat spotted in the state¡¯s wildlife sanctuary.

According to a report, a forest department official said that they were trying to find out if there are other black panthers in the area or this cat is lone. He reportedly said that this was the first time a black panther had been caught on camera in Netravali wildlife sanctuary, an area predominantly inhabited by tigers.
People were awed by the rare sighting of the black panther and most of the comments insisted on calling it Bagheera.?
Black panthers are a color variant species of the spotted Indian leopard. It is not usually spotted in the light as it is the creature of the dark - that is what makes such sightings, so rare.?
