After the list of?bank holidays in?August 2022, it's time for a new list to take over. September 2022 again is full of festivals and celebrations across the country. Many private and public sector banks across the country will remain closed next month due to additional bank holidays.?
Banks will be shut for 13 days in September 2022 Including second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.?Banks will be closed on all public holidays with some regional holidays depending on the particular state. Regional holidays are decided by respective state governments.
The month of September observes 13 bank holidays as per RBI's guidelines. The first holiday starts from Ganesh Chaturthi on September 1, and other holidays like Onam on September 7 and Indrajatra on September 9, are applicable to all banks in India except in some states.

People will not face any problems in bank-related work as holidays are not frequent or at short intervals and ATMs, cash deposits, online banking, and mobile banking will continue to function. These holidays may vary from state to state as holidays are determined keeping in view the local festivals.
According to RBI guidelines, banks are closed on Sundays as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Under the Negotiable Instruments Act, RBI has declared holidays on September 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 21 and 26. Apart from this, there are four Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays in the month.
According to the Reserve Bank's calendar, apart from the weekends, there are eight bank holidays in September 2022. The central government has divided the holidays into three categories, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.?

The day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is the symbol of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. This year Ganesha Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 1.?

In this festival, people worship the Karam Rani, the Goddess of wealth and children in the Hindu month of Bhado (September-September) on the 11th day of a full moon (Purnima).?

Onam is the most important and biggest festival in South India, especially in Kerala. It is believed that King Bali, also known as Mahabali who once ruled the state, comes to earth. In the joy of his arrival, the festival of Onam is celebrated for ten days in Kerala to show the best of Malayali history and culture, in which the tenth day is the main one which is held on 7 September this year.
Bank will be closed in Kerala on the occasion of Thiruvonam on 8 September 2022. It's the final day of Onam known as Thiruvonam. On this day people welcome King Mahabali by painting rice flour batter on their front doors and enjoying Onasadya, the opulent Onam feast.
Banks remain shut in Sikkim on the occasion of Indrajatra on 9 September. Indrajatra is an important religious festival celebrated by the Newar community in Sikkim with great pomp and fanfare. According to belief once Indra's mother asked him to get the specially scented flowers called Parijat and Indra looked for them but couldn't find them nearby. But he discovered the flowers in the Kathmandu Valley when tried to get them he was caught and imprisoned by people in the Valley. But when people got to know who he is they immediately released him and regret what they have done and dedicated one of the most colourful festivals of Nepal to him to calm down his anger.
