Coronavirus has spread to our country and has left citizens in complete panic-mode. A total of 28 confirmed cases have been reported in India which includes 15 Italian tourists who tested positive for the virus.?
Three Indians were a part of the same group and a total of 24 people were taken to the quarantine facility of?Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Chhawla near Delhi, to get tested for COVID-19.
Another Italian national who accompanied the group while travelling was tested positive for the deadly virus in Jaipur, Rajasthan. According to reports, the man's wife has also contracted the disease from her husband and so has the driver of their bus, who is an Indian national.
Union Minister, Harsh Vardhan, said that six others who are related to the infected man have also been tested positive for the same. He said, "On conducting contact tracing of the person tested positive in Delhi, we came to know that he infected 6 members of his family who are in Agra. All 6 members tested positive for coronavirus."
The first case to be reported in Delhi NCR is of a man from Noida who was diagnosed with the virus on Monday. The man in question here is the parent of a child who is a student of Shriram Millennium School in Noida's sector 135. According to several reports, the man who has been infected by the virus, organised a birthday party for his child, where other students from the school were also present.
The health authorities ordered the parents to take their kids home on Tuesday after they received the infected man's reports which tested positive. The school premises are undergoing a sanitation treatment so that it does not put anybody at risk. The school will remain shut till March 9, 2020, until further notice.
According to reports, the same man dined at Hyatt Regency in Delhi and ever since, the hotel has asked its staff to go on a 14-day quarantine. Aside from that, the hotel premises are being sanitised, with all restaurants going through a deep-cleaning procedure; every space in the hotel is being thoroughly cleaned.
Kerala was the first state to report the first three cases of Covid-19 in India. All of them were medical students from Wuhan from where the virus originated. In an official statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said,?"Experts across the world have advised to reduce mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Hence, this year I have decided not to participate in any Holi Milan programme."
A total of 438 people have been suspected, out of which 225 have completed 28 days of surveillance. 189 are being observed while 89 are in isolation.
