Imagine if you could stay in hotels for free wherever you traveled¡ªwhat a dream, right? The possibilities for exploring the world would be endless without the burden of accommodation costs. That's exactly how an American tourist couple felt when they got a one-night free stay in Ibiza, Spain. However, they soon discovered that this seemingly perfect deal came with a surprising price¡ªone that wasn't monetary.
Margaret and Corey Bienert, the travel bloggers behind the popular TikTok page "A Pretty Cool Hotel Tour," were thrilled when they discovered they could book a one-night free stay at the Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel.?
However, there was a catch: the room had glass walls and was located right in the hotel lobby, making it impossible for guests to avoid being on display for everyone entering the hotel.
The reason behind this weird concept??
Well the answer lies in the name itself. The Paradiso Ibiza 'Art' Hotel is all about the art. The glass-walled room is part of an immersive art installation, where guests become part of the exhibit.?
"The thing is I just hadn't done any research to realize that this is an art hotel," Margaret said. "So whoever is sleeping in that room for the night is just part of the art."
It's safe to say they weren't prepared for what was to come.
The Bienerts'?said that the hotel hadn't been transparent about the room's amenities or what the stay would entail, including the fact that the lights never turn off, making guests visible all night.?
Videos from their stay reveal staff mopping the floors, guests checking in at the front desk, and passersby gawking and taking photos of them in their bed. Additionally, the room wasn't entirely soundproof, so they could hear every loud noise, music, and conversation both inside and outside the room.
At one points, guests even knocked on the glass and woke the pair up.
After hearing of this experience, it seems like shelling out the cash for a private room is way better than being on display for free at this hotel!
