While we have frontline warriors like doctors, nurses, paramedics and volunteers who are ensuring that COVID-19 patients receive the medical care they need, we also have food warriors who are ensuring that people in need of food do not starve during these unprecedented times.?
A Twitter thread shared by user?R¨nt¨¦whose bio reads - 'A Punekar not by birth but by virtue of loving this city. Founder @jikonifoodco @volunteers4you Alma Mater @altis_unicatt #FoodWarrior' took to the microblogging website to share the initiative of feeding police officers, ambulance drivers, rag pickers, family members of COVID patients admitted in hospitals etc.

The thread explains the day-to-day experiences of?R¨nt¨¦ and the team who go around the city of Pune to feed khichdi to the above-mentioned people. The first tweet simply states the kind of food they are serving. It says, 'We delivered 50 Khichdi Dabbas today. It was a Palak khichdi. Used the Matta rice which is easier to digest and was made in ghee so that it is mild on the stomach. Our initial plan was to give food to policemen on duty & ambulance drivers.'

In the second tweet, it reads, 'On our way to Sasoon Hospital we have to policemen and to rag pickers. As we reached Sasoon compound we realized the family members of the patient(s) been treated at Sasoon also needs food desperately.'
Since family members of COVID patients are running errand day in and day out, they don't get time to eat and some cannot even afford to. In order to help them out, this initiative is ensuring that no one goes hungry.?
The thread further reads, 'We have decided to include these families for our Khichdi Dabbas as well. I know it is a Herculean task but what doesn¡¯t challenge us doesn¡¯t make us strong. I promised Dad to be stronger each day.'
It further explains what their dabbas are made of and other things they provide with it:
'We use paper containers because they are healthy & food grade. We also tried to give bottled mineral water because that was also a dire need due to the weather. Every person sent tons & tons of blessings for all who are supporting us. I have no words to express.'
Going on about the progress, the next set of tweets in the thread talk about the increasing number of khichdi dabbas distributed to those in need and also shows the process from cooking to packaging to delivering the food.?
Another tweet reads, 'We make Khichdi interesting!! We distributed 150 Dabbas today. It has given to people who are living inside and also families of patients at Sasoon Hospital. No one should sleep hungry.'
