On Wednesday evening, at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi, Indian President Droupadi Murmu awarded notable field honorees the highly coveted Padma awards.?
At the Padma Bhushan ceremony, Sudha Murty was joined by her husband, Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy, son, Rohan Murty, daughter, Akshata Murty, who is married to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and her sister, Dr Sunanda Kulkarni.?
According to a report in?Moneycontrol, Akshata Murty, the wife of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and her family had initially occupied the seats in the middle rows of the Padma ceremony with no security or security fanfare.?
Seated on her other side was the family of vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar. Anurag Thakur was also in the same row.?
The Murthy's are well-known for their humility and simplicity.?Narayana Murthy, Rohan Murthy, and Sudha Murthy, Akshata's father, brother, and sister-in-law, joined her at the ceremony, but no British security was present.?
However, the family kept their spot in the middle row alongside other families.?
President Droupadi Murmu awarded Sudha Murty the Padma Bhushan for her charitable endeavours.?
After receiving the Padma Bhushan, Sudha Murty said, "I owe this award to the people of India. I hope my recognition today inspires the younger generation to take up social welfare as a vocation. It is needed for the continuous development of our great nation. I always feel that the generosity of a few gives hope for a million."
She oversaw the Infosys Foundation's efforts to aid communities around India in need by funding initiatives in areas such as education, health care, rural development, care for people experiencing poverty, arts and culture, midday meal plans, and water projects, among other things.
