With news of police brutality inflicted on delivery boys,?among other things happening across the country in spite of Prime Minister Modi being clear about the fact that services of essential goods will not be stopped, our faith in authorities might be going for a toss.?
During a time like this, regardless of personal opinions, citizens and officials of the country need to abide by the rules set by the nation's leader and harassing people for doing their job is not one of them.
However, there's always a knight in shining armor who makes sure that our faith isn't completely lost in the system and right now it is Assistant Commissioner of Police Bengaluru, Tabarak Fathima. In a video that is doing the rounds on social media, ACP Fathima can be seen and heard addressing the citizens in what looks like a residential area.?
The video was posted on Twitter by user @sai_ganesh and has over 50K views and 3K likes till now. In the video, ACP Fathima is talking to the people through a mic and comforting them about the basic essentials that will be available throughout the 21-day lockdown that the Prime Minister announced last night.?
She says, "All the essential services, let it be medical or groceries, everything is open like any other normal day. Please do not get scared. Do not panic that you are not getting the essential commodities."
She further educates people on social distancing and how important it is to practice it right now. She says, "When you go to your grocery store, maintain a social distance. Maintain a minimum of 1 feet distance with each other because then if someone coughs or sneezes, the virus will not affect us because it cannot travel so far."
Aside from this, she explains how absolutely vital it is to keep ourselves sanitised at all times. She says, "Use handwash, sanitisers and soap and keep doing that regularly. It's not enough to wash your hands and face. Please keep your clothes clean. Your hand wash and sanitisers are precious commodities. Please use them wisely."
By the end of the video, she addresses the importance of wearing face masks and requests everyone to wear one without fail while stepping outside of their homes.
This is the kind of leadership that the nation needs right now and it's our hope that all police authorities follow in ACP Fathima's footsteps and act sensibly during a sensitive time like this.
