During partition, many people abandoned their most valuable possessions and relocated to a home away from home. They had intended to return to their belongings someday, but for many, that day never came.?
However, as tales of partition have persisted over time, some people have been able to reclaim their lost goods, or at least portions of them.?
Prof. Amin Chohan of Lahore, too, was able to locate a portion of his home that he abandoned in India.
In a beautiful story that has captivated social media, Prof. Amin Chohan received the door to his home from his friend Palwinder Singh, who lives in India. The video shows an emotional Chohan looking at the door and even kissing it. As he unwraps the door, he carefully sets it in his home.
Instagram user Saad Zahid shared the video with the comment, "It's the old door from Prof's father's home in Ghoman Pind, Batala." This door, full with memories and history, traveled a great distance from Batala to Mumbai, then Dubai, Karachi, and ultimately Lahore, where Amin lives.?
As Prof looks at the worn-out wood, he can't help but cry, struck by the door's significance and the memories it holds. Even though the partition of 1947 divided territories, it could not separate Punjabis' hearts, which remained united through shared heritage and friendships.?
The post was shared on March 26. Since being posted, it has received about one lakh likes and countless comments. Many individuals were captivated by the wonderful video.?
A person wrote, "God bless." This is such a beautiful sight. I want to go there once to view my ancestral home. "Love and prayers from India."A second person stated, "Borders are man-made limitations!"?
