A Bengaluru woman has sparked a social media firestorm with her outspoken remarks on a Swiggy delivery agent. The insider-outsider debate is not new in Karnataka, particularly in Bangalore. Locals have long lobbied for giving Kannadigas preferential treatment in career chances. However, this woman took things to the next level with her most recent social media post.
In a post on X, the woman, a Swiggy client, criticized the food delivery company for not having Kannada-speaking delivery personnel in Bengaluru. She questioned if locals should learn the languages of neighbouring states.?
The Swiggy customer posted a screenshot of her order data, writing:?¡°Bengaluru is in Karnataka or Pakistan @swiggy Your delivery guy is neither speaking nor understanding Kannada, not even English. Do you expect us to learn his state language Hindi in our land? Stop imposing things on us and make sure your delivery persons know Kannada.¡±
The woman's remark elicited multiple responses from social media users, who educated her on India's language diversity and culture. Here's what people wrote.
