There are all sorts of world records out there, and?Switzerland has just claimed one for the world's longest passenger train. Here's everything we know.?
The Rhaetian Railway company, in Switzerland, has claimed the world record for the longest passenger train. The train ran a 1.9-kilometer-long or 1.2-mile-long carrier composed of 100 coaches along the Albula/Bernina route from Preda to Berg¨¹n, according to an Associated Press report.?
The train ran on the scenic route which is famous for having 22 tunnels and 48 bridges, many of which cut through mountains. It was also designated a UNESCO World Heritage in 2008 and is one of the most picturesque routes. A tweet by?Gurbaksh Singh Chahal informed, "Swiss railway company Rhaetian Railway has bagged the record for the world¡¯s longest passenger train with a trip on one of the most spectacular tracks through the Alps."?
To talk more about the details, rail enthusiasts were present in the valley to watch the train¡¯s 25 sections cover 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) through the Alps. The entire journey was completed in just over an hour. The Rhaetian Railway company's director, Renato Fasciati, said the record was planned to highlight some of Switzerland¡¯s engineering achievements and mark 175 years of?Swiss?railways, as reported.?¡°For me, this is just Swiss perfection,¡± the director told the local press.?
After the journey,?the company announced that it had beaten the Guinness World Record for the longest passenger train. However, there are much longer trains present in the world running over 3 kilometres. But reports suggest that Saturday's event featured by far the longest-ever passenger train.?
