Scientists and zookeepers at numerous zoos observed odd behaviour in animals during the solar eclipse.?
According to reports, experts at the Fort Worth Zoo in Texas investigated animals such as giraffes, gorillas, lions, macaws, and flamingoes, with a few displaying attentiveness and curiosity during the celestial event.
According to CBS News, as the skies darkened during the eclipse, a number of animals at the Fort Worth Zoo approached their barn doors.?
According to the zoo, gorillas, giraffes, elephants, kudu, coatis, bonobos, and Aldabra tortoises made their way to their respective barns. Additionally, the zoo witnessed some unexpected daylight behavior from nocturnal creatures. Two types of owls and a ringtail cat were more active during the day.
During the eclipse, Dallas Zoo zookeepers observed giraffes and zebras running around. At the same time, chimps patrolled the perimeter of their zoo enclosure. An ostrich laid an egg at the Dallas Zoo. Before totality, other birds became quieter, and penguins and flamingos formed a group.?
According to an Indianapolis zoo spokesman, birds exhibited strange behaviour as well. Macaws, budgies, and other birds exhibited nighttime behaviour by becoming quiet and roosting high.?
Dr. Robert Shumake, President and CEO of the Indianapolis Zoo, stated, "You can hear they're completely silent now - not a squeak or movement.?
The zoo's flamingos gathered close together and became silent. Two of the animals, a warthog and a cheetah, exhibited midnight activity. During the eclipse, a warthog waited at the back gate, while the cheetahs paced on the highest point of their grassy yard.?
