Spider-Man fans, assemble! The web-slinging chaos is far from over, and Tom Holland is making sure we are all strapped in for the next big Marvel spectacle. Drum roll, please¡ Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially happening and is set to hit theatres on July 31, 2026!
Director Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, took the stage at CinemaCon and¡ªbetween lamenting his $200 loss at a Vegas roulette table¡ªgushed about his love for the messy, hilarious, and oh-so-relatable Peter Parker. According to him, this film will be an experience we have ¡°never really seen before.¡±
?Spider-Man 4 title unveiled
But let¡¯s talk about that title, shall we? If you are a die-hard Spidey comics fan, Brand New Day might ring a bell. This 2008 storyline was controversial for wiping out Peter Parker¡¯s marriage to MJ after a reality-altering event. Sounds eerily familiar, right? Given how No Way Home ended¡ªwith everyone, including MJ, forgetting who Peter Parker is¡ªthis new film might just take inspiration from the comic and throw Peter into a completely different reality. The heartbreak! The drama! We are not ready!
The new film is penned by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, the writing duo behind No Way Home, so expect another emotional rollercoaster packed with insane action sequences and some classic Spidey humor. Jon Watts, who directed all of Holland¡¯s previous Spider-Man films, is not returning for this one, but with Cretton in charge, fans are expecting a fresh take on everyone¡¯s favorite wall-crawler.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to redefine Peter¡¯s journey, Marvel¡¯s slate is looking stacked. Thunderbolts arrives this May, The Fantastic Four: First Steps lands in July, and 2025 will bring us Avengers: Doomsday with a powerhouse cast. But let¡¯s be real¡ªSpidey¡¯s return is what has us counting the days.
