Sean 'Diddy' Combs, also known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy, faces disappointment from all corners. As his high-profile celebrity connections continue to dodge questions related to him, the self-proclaimed bad boy has now lost his precious key to Miami Beach. ?Earlier this year, Miami had cancelled Diddy Day¡ªwhich was usually celebrated on October 13.
Amid the plague of sexual assault crimes against him, the City of Miami Beach has officially stripped Sean 'Diddy' Combs of his key to the city that he was awarded back in 2015. The mayor of Miami still has to certify the resolution, but it won't take long, given the massive backlash against the hip-hop mogul.
Citing the motive behind the move, Beach Vice Mayor Alex Fernandez slammed allegations against the disgraced music mogul and labelled them "disgusting," "dirty," and "inhumane" in an interview with CBS Miami. ¡°Justice must be served, and this is a small way in which our city can grant some justice to the victims of the gross acts that have been committed,¡± said Fernandez.
The ceremonial key to the city was awarded to Diddy in 2015 by then-mayor Philip Levine. The decision to revoke the key comes after city officials were reportedly finalising negotiations to take back the key last month. On October 30, Mayor Steven Meiner and the city commission unanimously voted to rescind the honour in the wake of his arrest on September 16.
Diddy is currently facing multiple lawsuits and criminal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges levelled against him. After two failed attempts to secure bail, attorneys to Combs are now seeking a gag order in his ongoing criminal case, citing a ¡°deluge of improper pretrial publicity¡± that could harm his right to a fair trial.?
