The Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs. Delhi Capitals (DC) clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was stopped in Dharamsala on Thursday, May 7, 2025, in the 11th inning after the town went dark amid a drone and missile attack launched by Pakistan toward Indian cities.
Immediately after the blackout, the Dharamsala stadium was evacuated. On the other hand, a report by PTI quoted IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, who clarified whether the IPL 2025 will continue amid Indo-Pak military conflict.
Amid the ongoing conflict, Dhumal said it is an evolving situation, and ¡°We are reviewing the situation right now."
He went on to add that they have not received any directive from the government. Meanwhile, a tech journalist, Raju PP, posted a tweet sharing how smartly the BCCI handled the situation.
Raju PP shared a post saying, "BCCI is someone everyone loves to hate, but credit where due. A friend at Dharamshala explains how smartly they handled the evacuation. Well done @BCCI @IPL."
The tensions between India and Pakistan escalated sharply on Thursday evening following a Pakistani drone and missile attack that targeted the region in Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
The attempted strike, later confirmed by the Ministry of Defence to have originated from Pakistan, was intercepted by Indian air defence systems. The incident led to blackouts, air raid sirens in multiple cities, and the suspension of the ongoing IPL match in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
The whole incident started with Indian defence systems after they suspected a drone and missile incursion over Jammu, before reports emerged of explosions in various parts of Punjab and sensitive zones in Rajasthan.
A day after New Delhi launched 'Operation Sindoor,' the incident escalation took place. Operation Sindoor is a targeted military strike on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok), which was a retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam.?
