Recently, a video of a bicycle with fully-functional square wheels has taken the internet by storm. Yes, you heard it right - square wheels! The footage has left viewers in awe, scratching their heads in disbelief as they watch a cyclist ride smoothly on a bike with square wheels, defying the laws of physics and common sense.?
Engineer Sergii Gordieiev of the innovative YouTube channel The Q enjoys tinkering with bizarre ideas.?Whether making a bicycle that rides on ice or building the world¡¯s smallest functional cycle, the man of science has a profound affection for bike design.
Well, his days of tinkering led him to wonder if he could make a fully functional bike with square wheels. The concept of circular wheels, though centuries old, has been an important innovation in?physics and engineering. To think that someone could mould the very fabric of the concept has been blowing people's minds all over the internet.
So, when Twitter user Massimo shared a clip of Sergii¡¯s successful experiment, people lost their bearings. The user introduced the bicycle and wrote, "How The Q created a bike with fully working square wheels (capable of making turns)."
People¡¯s reaction to the innovation was confusing, as their brains accustomed to the laws of physics rejected the very idea of a square wheel. Though some did enjoy the creativity, many pointed out that the square wheels weren¡¯t technically ¡°wheels.¡±?
One user questioned the motivations behind making such a bicycle.
While a cynical commenter wrote, ¡°We had Airships and electric cars 100s of years ago -- today we have this..¡±
One fellow thought the alteration could keep street dogs at bay, ¡°Well, at least the dogs won¡¯t run after the bike tires.¡±
One user argued, ¡°Actually that¡¯s not really square wheels in the general sense they are square frames with tracks. Sorry, but that¡¯s definitely doesn¡¯t add up to square wheels. Anyway, it¡¯s funny and throws you for a loop for a second. That was the original intention of the invention.¡±
Another joked, ¡°Aliens saw this video turned the ship around and headed for another galaxy.¡±
One person questioned the practicality of wheels, saying, "Just seems like way too much friction to make sense. Can¡¯t imagine much coasting."??
One simply enjoyed the video, saying, "That looks amazingly satisfying."??
While another admitted, ¡°I like the experiment but my brain rejects it.¡±
Wondering how Sergii achieved the bizarre feat? Well, the inventor obviously couldn¡¯t make square wheels work like conventional round wheels do, but he did think of a way to make square frames functional.
Sergii built a channel over the wheels that could be activated by the pedals in the cycle while the frame of the wheel itself remained stationary.
