It took a cake to save the day! Two bikers escaped the wrath of a hungry leopard in Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district after smacking a two-pound cake in its face.?
Two brothers - Firoz Mansuri and Sabir - didn't come home with the cake for the latter's son, but they had a rather unique tale to share.?Shaken by the incident, the brothers can count themselves as very lucky.?
As per a report in Times of India, the duo had bought the cake in Nepanagar town, about 320 km from Bhopal, on Monday evening and were returning home to Goradia village on their bike when they had a close shave with death.?
Out of nowhere, a leopard leapt out from sugarcane fields and began chasing the bike, as per the account of brothers.?
With their hearts in their mouths, the riders accelerated, but the leopard gained on them on the muddy village path. Unrelenting in its pursuit, it pawed at the motorcycle, leaving behind big scratches, the men told TOI.
All this while, Sabir riding pillion, was balancing the cake during the high-speed chase.?
As the leopard¡¯s claws tore into the cake box, Sabir decided to do something rather unusual - he hurled the cake at the leopard, hitting it smack in the face. It acted as a sweet distraction as the wild cat couldn't figure out what hit him and?darted back into the sugarcane fields.
¡°The leopard had followed us for over 500 metres. We narrowly escaped death,¡± Sabir later told forest officials, as reported by TOI.?
The forest department was initially unsure if it was a leopard, but later the foresters found pugmarks of a leopard on the stretch.??
