Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing extreme weather conditions over the past few weeks. Now, a terrifying video of a landslide have surfaced from the state's Chamba district.?
The landslide is reported to have occurred on August 8, leading to roads being blocked in Bharmour area of the district. No casualties have been reported as of yet, however, officials are yet to rule out any injuries, India Today reported.?
The video starts with what appears to be the beginning of the landslide. Massive rocks can be spotted rolling down the hills while onlookers are seen shouting, "Get away, get away."??
Soon, the landslide could be seen turning into a more severe form. Some locals are heard trying to alert people downhill to keep away from the path of the falling rocks by whistling.??
Himachal has been witnessing an alarmingly high number of landslides this season. Meanwhile in Baloth Panchayat, which falls under Chamba district¡¯s Bharmour sub-division, multiple landslides led to disruption in traffic. Many remote villages have reportedly been cut off as a result.
According to a report by news agency?ANI, locals in Chamba have appealed to the state government to build proper roads in the region, so that the villages there don't get disconnected during a calamity such as this.? ??
The landslide in Chamba is in continuation of a number of similar incidents in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the past few days. A?landslide had struck the state's Solan?district early on Tuesday, killing one person and injuring another two.? ?
Meanwhile, last month,?numerous landslides?triggered by incessant rainfall claimed many lives in the hill state. On August 4, Nahan-Kumarhatti road on National Highway 907 in Himachal Pradesh was closed due to a massive landslide.?
On August 1, the State Disaster Management Authority had said that the state had suffered a loss worth 632 crores due to landslides, rains, and cloudbursts.??
