Between being coerced to come back to the office, dry promotions, the constant threat of being laid off and zero salary bumps, it seems employees are now coming up with creative ways to get the work-life balance they want but hardly get. Can you blame them? If there was ever a moment "quiet quitting" touched a high note, it's this. One man recently shared how he took a month off to enjoy vacay time in Italy all the while keeping up appearances and successfully fooling his boss into thinking he was working. Genius or not, you decide. Read on to find out how he pulled off this little stunt.?

If you're already taking notes, here's how he did it. The anonymous 'corporate slave' told Business Insider he pulled off "quiet vacationing" (enjoying time off but pretending you're working) for a whole month but used only a week of paid time off. He admitted he was "frustrated" after the San Fransico-based company announced a new leave policy which is when he decided to "take his time back" by fooling his manager into thinking he was working. He answered all emails and was part of all meetings while vacationing in Italy - all part of his plan to keep up appearances.

He admitted to feeling like he was living in a "gilded cage" and while the paycheck and the appraisals were good, the announcement of the new policy pushed him into action."I became a 'quiet quitter,' doing the bare minimum to finish a task and push it off my desk," Business Insider quotes him as saying.
"I've also started "quiet vacationing," which is when your employer is under the impression you're working but you're secretly taking time off. It started with taking some time away here and there and culminated in a month-long trip to Italy, which I only used one week of PTO for."
He revealed he works for an hour or three a day and avoids coming to the office as much as he can and added: "I want to keep quiet vacationing in the future. Traditional expectations around working 9-to-5 are outdated, and it's good to see employees taking back their time."
He shared how he was "honest" about work for the first year and diligent when it came to adding PTO hours to their calendar. He gradually realised he was spending a lot of time at the office doing nothing. He eventually started taking time off for travel without using his leaves for two years. He travelled to the airport on a workday, and enjoyed time at the spa with his partner before he got "bolder" and planned a trip to Italy this year.?
He would log in on time, check the company's messaging platform, answer emails, and fake backgrounds and essentially plan his day off around meetings etc. He even used the social media-famous mouse jiggler that showed he was online when he was out enjoying picturesque views.?
But does he worry about getting caught one day? He says he'll be pretty upfront about it all and tell his boss "I do my job. What more do you want?"
