According to reports, the incident took place on the banksof a pond near Juna Bazaar in Karjan town.

The crowd saw Pankaj Patel exchanging a word or two withwhat he thought as his mother, a huge crocodile. Pankaj Patel told officialsthat he touched the crocodile after goddess Maa Khodiyar asked him to do so inhis dream. The goddess is popularly depicted as sitting on a crocodile.
The man told the crocodile, ¡°We should put a garland ofroses around you. Forgive me, my mother. She has come here to lay eggs butpeople break the eggs.¡±
"Upon learning about the incident from social media, webooked Pankaj Patel under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act anddetained him for questioning." said Deputy Conservator Of Forest, Vadodara,Kartik Maharaj.

Patel addressed the animal as his mother and could be seenbowing before it and patting its back without any fear of possible harm fromit. The people witnessing the man¡¯s antics from a distance and shooting ontheir mobile phones were shouting at him to back off.
Last year, a man was seen entering a bear enclosure inWarsaw Zoo and then picking up a fight with the wild animal. A nearlyone-minute long video showed the 23-year-old man standing inside the enclosureand while the bear walked towards him, he jumped into the tunnel of water tohave an escape. While he swam to the other side, the bear too jumped inside thewater and the two were then seen fighting each other.

According to reports, firefighters had to be called inimmediately to tackle the situation and rescue the man, who has been reportedto be inebriated. He was charged with animal cruelty and also for not wearing aface mask (mandatory in Poland).
