A man recently took to X to vent his frustration after getting a whopping Rs 45,000 electricity bill. It gets worse: the bill was only for two months and not even a quarter. Is a bill as high as this justified? If contested, what is the guarantee it won't drag on for years and come back to haunt the complainant? Here's what went on in this case.

Gurugram-based Jasveer Singh was in for quite the shocker after receiving an electricity bill for Rs 45,000 for only two months. It's one thing to live in an expensive city and groan about expenses, but it's quite another to see it spelt out in clear, legible print like the bill in question. Situations like these throw up all sorts of thoughts: from switching to solar to quitting the city, to burning candles after dark. This clearly went too far, and the internet came out in Singh's support who was quite the sport having paid the bill in time and slowly letting reality sink in.

The post was shared on June 23 by X user Jasveer Singh and raked in 1.2 million views, 104k likes and comments to match. Paid the electricity bill, now thinking of switching to candles," he captioned the post.?
"For a year," asked one user. "Na, an, it's a 2-month bill," Singh replied. "Pure jille ka bill bhara kya," a second user couldn't resist asking. "Solar lagvalo," suggested a third. "Meanwhile me struggling to pay my 2k bill," joked a fourth.
