Bengaluru is notorious for its traffic and hour-long traffic congestion. The IT city was one of two Indian towns rated among the world's top 10 most congested cities in 2023.?
The same year, it was ranked as the world's second most congested city. Rapid urbanisation, poor design, and a lack of public transportation choices are just a few of the reasons why the city's roads get congested during peak rush hours. In light of this,?
Google Maps has proven that it is sometimes faster to walk than drive from point A to point B in the IT city.
Ayush Singh took to X (previously Twitter) to publish a Google Maps snapshot comparing the time it takes to walk vs. drive from Brigade Metropolis to KR Puram Railway Station, a distance of about 6 kilometres.?

The picture shows that driving between the two places would take 44 minutes while walking would take 42 minutes. Mr Singh captioned the photo, "This only happens in Bangalore."
Since being shared, the post has received over 626,000 views and 14,000 likes. While several people agreed that Bengaluru's traffic is exhausting, others disputed Singh's "only in Bengaluru" claim.
"Same story across many metro cities in the world," wrote one user. "Mumbai and Delhi also had the same situation during peak," said another.
"If time is so important to you, then I'd like to tell you that KR Puram is 3rd metro station from Garudacharpalya. Next time you can try it," suggested a third user.
One user called Bengaluru the "Traffic capital of India". "Stop blaming start using public transport which can take you there in 13 mins," commented another user.
"While comparing the walk with the drive, you forgot to notice the public transport only 13 minutes. We often forget that the right solution to traffic is public transport," added another. Check the viral post here.
