There are some bizarre rituals across the world, but this might take the cake. An Indonesian tribe forbids newlyweds from using the toilet for three days after their wedding. Yes, you read that right!
The Tidong community prohibits the couple from using the washroom for three days after their marriage. The people belonging to the tribe are of the belief that breaking this rule will bring terrible luck to the couple ¨C a broken marriage, infidelity, or death of their children at a young age.
So the couple is watched over by several people and allowed only minimal amounts of food and drinks. After the three days, they are bathed and then permitted to use the loo.
The Tidong people are inhabitants of the north-eastern region of Borneo, near the border between Indonesia and Malaysia.?
Whenever a wedding ceremony is held in the tribe, the couple has to follow the peculiar practice. After all the processions are done, the couple is taken to a room where they have to spend the first three days of marriage. But they can't answer nature's call. That's just off limits!?
They are supervised by relatives, who are also responsible for keeping an eye on them to make sure the couple really passes the challenge without cheating by secretly relieving themselves.
It is believed that only couples who pass this challenge will be able to have an enduring /long-lasting marriage and those who fail will have bad luck in their marriage.?
Well, we aren't sure how they do it, but we wish them luck.?
