'It's going to be ok,' 'take a deep breath' - these are things not just students but also parents want to hear when board exams are around the corner.?
Thousands of students across the country are burning the midnight oil, making endless routines to complete their syllabus and cramming in everything possible.?
But it's in these difficult times that parents need to be reminded to tell their children that exams are not the be-all and end-all.?
That's what the principal of International Indian School - Damman, Saudi Arabia,?decided to do. In a heartwarming letter addressed to parents, the principal has urged each and parent to?cut their kids some slack.?After all, marks are not going to determine their future career.?
The principal further urges the parents not to 'take away the self-confidence and dignity' of the students if they don't score high marks. He also assures that the children will not be judged on the basis of how well or badly they performed.
The letter reads:?
'Dear parents,
The Board Exams of your children are to start soon. I know you are very anxious for your child to do well.
But please, do remember, amongst the students who will be sitting for the exams, there is an artist who doesn¡¯t need to understand Math.
There is an entrepreneur who doesn¡¯t care about History or English Literature.
There is a musician whose Chemistry marks won¡¯t matter.
There is an athlete whose physical fitness is more important than physics.
If your child does get top marks, that¡¯s great! But if he or she doesn¡¯t, please don¡¯t take away their self-confidence and dignity from them. Tell them it¡¯s OK, it¡¯s just an exam! They are cut out for much bigger things in life. Tell them, no matter what they score, you love them and will not judge them.
Please do this, and when you do, watch your children conquer the world. One exam or low marks won¡¯t take away their dreams and talent. And please do not think that doctor¡¯s and engineers are the only happy people in the world.¡±
The principal of International Indian School, Saudi Arabia, issued the letter to all parents whose kids will be appearing for their board exams this year.?
A Facebook user, Faju Farook, shared the letter, appreciating the principal for his thoughtfulness. Take a look
Exams can take a toll on both students and their parents, and this is just what they need to hear to bring down the level of stress. Of course, studying and exams are? important, but?the only path to success are true learning, devotion and consistency - these don't depend on marks at all.?
