In a shocking incident, a verbal spat over extra onions between customers and the staff resulted in serious injuries and bloodshed at a popular restaurant in Kolkata.?
The incident took place?on December 26?at Karim¡¯s restaurant located at Aurobindo Sarani.?
In the wee hours of December 27, a written complaint was lodged by one Nand Desai?at the Burtolla police station, Times Now reported.?
In the complaint,?Desai alleged that he went to a restaurant with two of his friends - Navneet Soni and Vinayak Chaubey - at around 11:30 pm for dinner.
The?complainant said that he and his friends went to Karim's Restaurant at Aurobindo Sarani and ordered food. As the eatery was closing, the staff demanded full payment before serving the food, which they did. "After the food was served, I and my friends asked for some extra onions following which a waiter started ¡°misbehaving¡± and ¡°hurled abuses¡±, Desai stated in his police complaint.
Desai?further claimed, ¡°When we approached the manager to complain, he too misbehaved with us and called a few waiters. All of them together brutally assaulted us with knives and choppers with the intention to kill us.¡±??
After a verbal spat things got heated, this is when Desai alleged that brawl broke out which led to the restaurant owner, manager, and waiters allegedly throwing the trio out of the eatery, and dropped their shutters, as per Times Now.?
Following the fight, the two men were taken to RG Kar Hospital for treatment.?Later,?they were shifted to Divine Nursing Home.
However, the restaurant has denied accusations and shared their side of the story in an Instagram post. ¡°On December 26 around 11 pm, Nand Desai, Navneet Soni, and two other men came to Karim¡¯s Hatibagan outlet to takeaway dinner. After making the payment for the food, they then asked if they could be allowed to sit down and eat it there. The team obliged, provided this would be their last order and they also informed Mr Desai and his friends that they would not be able to make any further bills since it was already closing time and the restaurant was going to down its shutters soon. As they sat down and started eating, Mr Desai and his friends demanded onion salad to be provided to them. When explained that the kitchen was closed and no more billing could be done, they asked to make the salad complimentary. Since the kitchen was closed already, the server told them politely that they would not be able to provide it since the kitchen was closed.¡±
The restaurant claimed that they created ruckus at the cashier's desk over the onion salad, and became aggressive with the manager.?
"The incident was recorded on the CCTV camera. An FIR has been lodged with the police to ensure this form of unacceptable behaviour doesn't go unnoticed," the restaurant added.?
