No one will ever understand India's obsession with getting the perfect marks, then getting the right job and getting "settled." But apparently that's just how we function. Tuitions, for instance, were once thought to be a supplementary aid for students otherwise slow to catch up in class. But that eventually evolved into a thing that had to be done, no matter how bright the student was. The more competitive the exam, the earlier you start. But does that still explain Maths tuition classes for a five-month-old? This viral video will have you scratching your head.
In a video shared by X user Karthik Balachandran, a woman is seen sitting on the floor with a baby while talking to the camera. Another woman, seen sitting opposite the child, holds out flashcards with the multiplication table for the numbers three and four for the child to see. She continues to switch between each flashcard quickly after showing each for no more than a second. It's not clear what the woman is saying to the camera but one guess is she's explaining how exposing kids this early to multiplication tables can be beneficial for them given their power to retain shapes and colours at that age.?
