As a kid or even a teenager, if you ever used a swear word in front of your family, you'd know you're in for a punishment. But a mother says that using swear is actually not so bad.?
A mother named Jax Anderson from Wisconsin, USA revealed that she lets her children use swear words only because it is simply an aspect of 'real life'.?
The mother first demonstrated the "unhelpful parenting approach".?After hearing her daughter say a swear word after the laundry fell off her hands, the mother - who is also a parenting coach and a psychotherapist who helps children deal with difficult situations - immediately scolded her and said there's "no cussing in this house".
After this, the mother demonstrated the 'helpful parenting" example.?Seeing her daughter frustrated, the mum said: "Are you okay? Do you need any help?"Thank you for remembering to only use swear words when it's only you and I home."
The mother called herself a "potty mouth" and said that?"swearing is real life" and parents who ban it are making it more of an issue.
She explained: "I don¡¯t want to stop swearing, we have rules that our daughter can swear when we¡¯re home alone."
She joked and added, "She gets to graze in the pasture but we have a nice fence around it in which she needs to stay."
She even discussed that there are certain words that are completely out of limits.?She continued: "We don¡¯t use swear words to disrespect people. We don¡¯t use swear words to call people names. And we only swear when we¡¯re at the house."
This parenting style obviously led to a full-fledged debate.?
One said: "Nah my mom just stares at me and then my sister yells 'YOU SAID A BAD WORD' and then I walk to my room."?Another added: "I have like zero problem with anyone swearing honestly as long as it¡¯s not language that¡¯s hateful."Meanwhile, a third said: "I wish I could do that with my kids it works for my daughter and the oldest but the middle child just cusses unnecessarily all the time."
What do you think about this mother's method? Is it innovative or completely destructive??
