Everytime you hear that somebody shares a birthday with you, it is natural that you¡¯ll get excited!
But we're not sure excited is what the residents of Kakra village in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh are feeling. They happen to have the same date of birth on their Aadhaar cards. Celebrating birthday with the whole village, exciting enough?
Kallo Adivasi - who thinks that she is 30 - is actually 39-years-old according to her Aadhar card. Meanwhile, her voter ID says that she is 49. Her Aadhaar card mentions her date of birth to be January 1.
Kallo shared her date and month of birth with other villagers and those who did not have a proof of date of birth, decided to use January 1 as their date of birth on their Aadhaar cards. Jagaram, Maho, Puran, Asarapi, Radha and Jasodi and many other villagers now share the same birthdays.

"I like to tell people I am 25 in order to seem younger,¡± Ashok Adiwasi told The Hindu. His card says that he was born on January 1, 1985. "We don't have a system of recording birthdays. I don't even know when I was born. How does it matter anyway? We don't celebrate birthdays."
The policy of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) says that if an individual does not have a proof of birth at the time of registering for Aadhaar, they can declare it without supporting documents. If someone does not remember their date, stating the age would be enough.?
A similar incident happened in 2017, when nearly all residents of the Gaindi Khata village of Van Gujjars in Haridwar having the same date of birth on their Aadhaar cards had surfaced, according to reports.?

The UIDAI, in a press release, had said, "As per the UIDAI enrollment policy, where a person does not know his exact date of birth and do not have a support document for the same, UIDAI accepts his declared birth year/age and 1st January of that year is considered as his date of birth for the purpose of Aadhaar enrollment."
The person can get his date of birth updated later if he is able to provide a supporting document for the same.
