Wild animals are highly unpredictable even if they are tamed and trained to perform in a circus. Handlers often run the risk of a surprise attack from the animal who wasn't supposed to be in a circus in the first place.
In circuses across the world, animals are exploited in the name of entertainment and their erratic behaviour is a consequence of daily torture.? ?
In one such incident, the?trainer was mauled by a chained lynx during a circus performance in Georgia.
In a video of the incident posted on TikTok, shocked spectators were heard screaming as the medium-sized wild cat turned on its tamer after he violently tried pushing it from a chair.?
According to reports, the incident took place in Tskhinvali, in the Georgian area of South Ossetia.
Local media states that there were many children in the audience who could have been injured by the lynx if it had escaped, as there were no barriers installed between the stage and the seats.?
The animal, clearly distressed by then, begins to attack the trainer, clawing at his face as the audience screams in horror.??
In a similar incident that took place back in 2018,?a circus lion pounced on a little girl after breaking a safety net during the show. In a video that is doing rounds of the internet, the lion can be seen running away from his trainer and pulling a four-year-old girl, scratching her face and chest.
The girl, Ksenia, survived the attack but the doctors said that she will be scarred for life. According to some reports, the girl was waving a flag which might have triggered the big cat and he broke the safety net to maul her.
Last year, a?lion suddenly attacked a?circus trainer?in front of a large audience of children and parents in Ukraine circus.?
Hamada Kouta, the 32-year-old was literally pinned down by the big cat in the middle of the act.
According to reports, his arm, leg and back were mauled and clawed before the lion finally walked away. According to?Sputnik News, the incident took place during the circus show called ¡°Treasures of Egypt¡±.
The circus trainer told local reports that he tried to resume the performance to help calm down the children who were screaming.?
When not training or performing, animals are kept chained or caged, with barely enough space to take a step in any direction. This causes a lot of these animals to have abnormal behavioural patterns and attacking their trainers is a direct consequence of constant ill-treatment.?
