Do you often find yourself wondering how a particular thing, something that looks pretty simple and straightforward, really work? Then you probably find yourself wondering who you can ask about it, and in a bid to save yourself further embarrassment, you skip the whole ordeal altogether.?
Well, you're not alone. And one such person started a page called 'how things work.' The page pretty much does what it says, and shares a whole bunch of videos on the subject.
This viral video, for instance, shows just how a self-cleaning public toilet in Paris works. If you've been to Paris or even Japan, toilets such as these are a common sight. But ever noticed how there's no one hanging around to clean them? That's all thanks to technology that does the job for us.
Once the door closes after someone has left, power jets, hidden close to the door release water a few times. The water then moves to the other end of the tiny loo, which is where it drains off. The flush itself retracts into a bracket in the wall. Meanwhile, an air slot next to it releases air probably to dry the area as much as possible. The whole process is pretty quick and only lasts a few minutes.?
Once the toilet is ready for use once again, the door opens, and the flush is automatically released from the bracket in the wall and is ready for the next human.
Not surprisingly, the clip shared on X on April 6, amassed 26.5 million views, 91.9k likes and plenty of comments to match.?"We need these everywhere. Though might create quite the queue," wrote one user. "Self-cleaning, automated, time-controlled system," shared another. "Sounds fascinating! It's amazing how innovation is transforming our everyday experiences. Finding ways to make public facilities more sustainable and efficient is a step towards a conscious and responsible urban living," wrote a third.
