Remember the widely criticised video that circulated online earlier this year? The one in which a security guard was seen reportedly locking office doors to prevent employees from leaving without authorization.
You can watch the viral video again below, but before that, let us take you through the incident and make you recall what exactly happened.
Edtech entrepreneur Ravi Handa shared a video on Twitter in which he can be heard discussing an incident with a watchman. According to the watchman in the video, a supervisor instructed him to prevent employees from leaving the workplace without consent.
The video, already widely circulated, sparked outrage online. Ravi Handa expressed his dismay, stating, ¡°Indian edtech founders are now literally locking in their employees. Get out of this country. Nowhere else would anyone dare pull off something like this.¡± The incident involves the company 'Coding Ninjas.'
??
Furthermore, Handa shared the official statement from the company, explaining that the situation occurred due to the "regrettable" actions of an employee. The company emphasised that the issue was promptly addressed and resolved.
The founders individually apologised to each employee and conveyed their regret, as stated in the official release.
Despite the apology, the online community expressed anger. One person commented, "I used to work in a coworking space in Delhi, where, incidentally, the Byjus sales team was present. Short of locking the team in, it was exactly the same."
