You might have heard of sugar addiction or alcohol addiction, but a person addicted to toilet paper is hard to come by. Kesha, a Chicago resident, is addicted to eating toilet paper and says she goes through around 75 sheets of paper a day. Seeing her addiction, her mom says it¡¯s "like crack" for her.
While you might think that the habit is just something weird that the woman does, it is actually a clinical condition. Kesha, who was featured on the TLC show ¡®My Strange Addiction¡¯, has a condition called Xylophagia. In this condition, the individual has an eating disorder that involves consuming paper.
The 34-year-old is not new to eating toilet paper but has been doing the deed every single day for the last 23 years. In the show, she explained that her condition is not irrational but rather stems from the trauma she experienced in the past.
Kesha shared that she suffered a lot in sixth grade after she moved out of her maternal house and went to stay with her?grandmother?and aunt. "I think I crave it because I love the way the?toilet paper feels on my tongue, how it dissolves when it hits my tongue," she explained her addiction.
She also revealed that she does experience problems in the restroom if she consumes too much toilet paper and even has stomach cramps at times. Because of Kesha¡¯s condition, her mother worries a lot about her. She said, "Every time I'd see Kesha, she'd have tissue in her hand and she'd try to hide it behind her back. If you tried to take it from her she'd get upset. I've never been able to understand why she eats tissue, and I never will."
