WWE might have accidentally revealed the result of an important title match coming up in Mexico. During the May 26 episode of Raw, a match graphic for the Worlds Collide event showed Chad Gable vs El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship. The problem? Vikingo isn¡¯t the champion yet.
The current AAA Mega Champion is Alberto El Patron, also known as Alberto Del Rio. He¡¯s supposed to defend the title against Vikingo on May 31. But with WWE already promoting the Gable vs Vikingo bout as a title match, it seems like they¡¯ve quietly spoiled the May 31 result. Unless something changes, it looks like Vikingo will beat El Patron and walk into Worlds Collide as the new champion.
Some fans had already guessed this might happen. Even though El Patron has returned to AAA, he hasn¡¯t been part of any WWE programming. Vikingo, on the other hand, has made recent appearances and is seen as one of the key figures in this WWE x AAA partnership. So the idea of him winning the title and defending it on WWE turf makes sense. Still, revealing it early like this? That¡¯s not the smoothest move.
WWE likely never planned to include El Patron in any crossover content. Their relationship with him has been difficult over the years. He was once a top name in the company, even winning the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles. But since his release in 2016, he¡¯s had multiple controversies, legal troubles, and public fallouts with the company.
?While he¡¯s resurfaced in AAA, WWE has kept their distance. Reports say the company doesn¡¯t want to associate with him on screen, which could be why they're ready to move the belt onto someone like Vikingo. The title match on May 31 was probably meant to be a stepping stone, not a main feature.
Now, thanks to a simple graphic on Raw, fans know what¡¯s likely coming. Not the biggest mistake WWE has made but not ideal either.
